Recipient: Lloyd G. Trotter
Mr. Trotter is Vice chairman of GE and president and CEO of GE Industrial, a $33 billion business with more than 90,000 employees. GE Industrial provides a broad range of products and services throughout the world, including appliances, lighting and industrial products, factory automation systems, plastics, security and sensors technology, and equipment financing, management and operating services. He assumed his current role in August 2006.
Mr. Trotter is a founding member of GE's African American forum and is actively involved in professional and community organizations. He represents GE for America's Promise, an organization aiming to increase volunteerism in support of youth. He has served on the boards of NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association), NAM (National Association of Manufacturers), NACME (National Council for Minorities in Engineering) and the GE Foundation. He is regularly recognized for his ongoing commitment to volunteerism and mentoring. |

Recipient: Harry Orton
Harry Orton received his B.E. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia in 1966 and earned his Master's Degree in Applied Science from the University of British Columbia, Canada in 1969. After graduation, Harry joined BC Hydro as an electrical research engineer and remained at BC Hydro until he started his own enginerring company 13 years ago, specializing in underground power cables. He has written a book on this subject. Harry has been active in the EIC since the late 1980s when he took on the Short Course Program. He has served on the EIC Board of Governors and was recently appointed Chair of the IEEE DEIS meetings Committee. |
